That's actually very possible indeed.
Lightning McQueen Alive is being touted by Mattel as one of the first toys on the market that finally takes advantage of miniature electronics to make it seem that the toy has a life of its own. And in the imaginations of children, you can better believe that is exactly what they will think when they see McQueen Alive in action.
According to the 2 largest toy manufacturers, Mattel and Hasbro, parents have been clamoring for years for toy companies to make their toys more unique, more engaging and more interactive. And with Lightning McQueen Alive, Mattel firmly believes that it is answering the concerns. Whether or not it plays out that way is yet to be seen as the toy is not set to be released until some time in October and as of this writing Mattel hasn't set a firm date. For many, based upon some early buzz that is circulating through the internet, they would love to see McQueen be released to coincide with the debut of the movie on June 24th. Sorry, but that just isn't going to happen.
That's not how toy makers work these days. Especially after Lightning McQueen Alive was unveiled at the annual American Toy Fair in New York City earlier in the year. To say that the critics raved would be an understatement. But why? That's what inquiring minds want to know right? Alright, let's go over what we do know about the new and exciting McQueen Alive.
First of all Lightning McQueen Alive is a car. Sorry, just couldn't resist that one ok? But in essence he is, although he is a very special car. The second thing we know is that Mattel has made him in the same scale, 1:55, as the rest of the die cast cars that they market. And that my friends is where the similarities stop.
Mattel informs us that the latest version of Lightning McQueen uses what is called micro motors to handle all the wiz bang stuff that this toy will do. In fact, this palm sized car uses 3 micro motors. One to drive him, one to move his mouth (did I mention that he has a moving mouth that talks?) and one micro motor to control other animation functions such as his moving eyes and shoulders.
Needless to say, Mattel has packed a whole bushel load of technology into Lightning McQueen Alive with the hopes that it pays off come the holiday shopping season. If this toy becomes what many feel will be a blockbuster hit, you can bet your bottom dollar that every other toy manufacturer will be following suit shortly thereafter and trying to mimic its success.
But we will just have to be patient and see what the buying public thinks of thinks of this new and exciting Cars 2 toy once he finally makes it to your favorite neighborhood store.
